Menucha 2- Gerstner & Sameach Music: Fight!!!!

Alright, maybe it's not a fight but I have never seen this issue become so public. My friend received the following email via facebook:

Due to the economy, our distributor, Sameach Music, wants to postpone the release of this much anticipated album until after the summer. However, we feel that, despite the economy, there has been B"H so much excitement generated about this album and everyone--especially the devoted Menucha fans--are anxious to finally see it hit the shelves NOW!

Perhaps if enough fans "complain" about this to Sameach, they will have a change of heart. (At least that's what we are hoping for!!) We need your help. PLEASE email Sameach Music at info@jewishjukebox.com and encourage them to release this amazing album as planned on Rosh Chodesh Adar IY"H!!!

Personally, I have no particular excitement toward this release and I can understand Sameach's position on this. I guess we'll see how it all turns out.

Jewish Music Insider: Free Music Download: Spinner Remix

Just in time for Lag B'omer: be sure to check out Yitzy Spinner's great Remix version of Mi Sheshiken from his debut album "you and i". You can read the review here on "you and i". I thought it was a nice idea and a great way to promote his album. The acoustic guitars are a great touch and Eli Lishinksy really did a bang up job jazzing up this tune. Mike Boxer did a great job on the background vocals. Click here to view the song credits.

Dovid Gabay is Online....

Well he finally did it. Dovid Gabay is officially online at DovidGabay.net. All I can say is it's about time. His album will be in stores any day now. My question is: what happened to DovidGabay.com? Why must he settle for the ".net"? Does someone already own that website? Do I smell extortion (distortion)? Speaking of Dovid's, whatever happened to Dovid Stein's release his website is up but the music is still not available.

Jewish Music Insider: The 8th Note

Sameach Music gives you the inside scoop on this mega-star album release: The 8th Note.

Make sure to tune into tomorrows Podcast to hear the world exclusive premiere of Yossi Green's "The 8th Note."

This album will feature 13 brand new songs from the most popular composer in Jewish music. This production will redefine the standards for Jewish music. The CD was produced by the incomparable Yossi Tyberg (MBD's EF'SHAR LETAKEN, SHLOIME GERTNER.)

There will be 13 tracks on the CD, featuring many of the most popular Jewish artists of our generation. Avraham Fried, MBD, Lipa singing a brand new Yiddish song with music composed by Yossi Green and lyrics written by Lipa Schmeltzer. Also on the album will be one of the hottest singers in Israel, Chaim Yisroel.

AKA Pella will be singing the title track "The 8th Note" an English song composed by Yossi. This song will feature AKA Pella and Yossi singing an unforgettable duet. Shloime Gertner, Ohad, Cantor Yitzchok Meir Helfgot, Lev Tahor and Mo Kiss are all also singing one song each on this album.

This CD will be out very soon. Stay tuned to Sameach Music website for further details including the debut of the album cover and an official demo sampler. Make sure to come back here on Wednesday to download the Sameach Music Podcast to hear the debut of one of the songs from this album.

Sameach Music: Releasing Star Studded Album

As Chaim points out Sameach Music is getting ready to release an All-Star Album entitled "The 8th Note":

"Coming soon from Yossi Green and Yossi Tyberg. A brand new CD featuring all new songs composed by Yossi Green. This CD titled "The 8th Note" will include some of the biggest names in Jewish music singing all new songs composed by one of the most successful composers in Jewish Music. Each song will feature a different singer, the line up of stars includes:

Avraham Fried, Mordechai Ben David, Cantor Yitzchok Meir Helfgot, Lipa Schmeltzer, Shloime Gertner, Ohad, Lev Tahor, Chaim Yisroel, AKA Pella (with music!) and a few more surprises. The CD will be in stores very soon. Stay tuned to Sameach Music's website for updates, the debut of the cover, and audio samples ... "

Maybe they should just call it Yossi & Yossi? The idea for this CD is fantastic but I would have preferred to see more than one composer on this album. I love Y. Green's compositions and he's truly gifted but as of late he doesn't put out as many blockbusters as he used to.

Below is a preview of PHP: Hodu.
