Yitzy Bald & New York Boys Choir: Miracle

Two years ago hit maker Yitzy Bald decided to try something new. Instead of working with solo artists like Mendy Wald, Michoel Pruzansky and Dovid Gabay, he decided to share his music in a venue that holds a very special place in his heart, a boys choir. Yitzy then went on to release the self-titled debut album of the New York Boys Choir, the rest is history.
Featuring smash hits including Ma’aminim, V’ahavta and Yehudi, the New York Boys Choir won the hearts of Jewish music fans across the world. In just two short years, the choir has performed at many concerts and live events including the Chanukah Telethon back in December 2011 which was broadcasted nationally and the Israel Day Concert in Central Park attended by thousands in Spring 2012.
The choir has since go on to join forces with Kids of Courage, the famed volunteer organization that turns the dreams of children with serious medical conditions into reality by providing them with medically supervised trips, weekends and other events. They released the hit single “Kids of Courage” together with a music video produced by veteran producer Danny Finkelman which to date boasts over 70,000 hits on Youtube.
Over the last two years Yitzy and the choir have been constantly working on their sophomore album for the New York Boys Choir. The new album to be released in spring 2014, will feature amazing songs composed and arranged by Yitzy himself as well as include music by world renowned Israeli arranger/musician Shai Barak. NYBC 2 will also feature the acclaimed hit song Jew Joy which the choir has performed live over the last two years.
However one does NOT have to wait till spring to get their new dose of NYBC. In honor of the fast approaching Chanukah, Yitzy Bald and the NYBC are releasing a dynamic new single entitled “M-I-R-A-C-L-E“. The single is being released with a one of a kind music video produced by On Time Video, which is sure to instantly become a household favorite. “M-I-R-A-C-L-E-“,composed by the multi-talented Yitzy Bald, was co-arranged by Yitzy together with the ultra-talented composer/arranger/producer Ruli Ezrach and features background vocals by the incomparable Yitzy Spinner plus additional vocals by Michael Elias.
The song is available for just 99¢ on iTunes and all other online music outlets.

Jewish Music Insider: Free Music Download: Spinner Remix

Just in time for Lag B'omer: be sure to check out Yitzy Spinner's great Remix version of Mi Sheshiken from his debut album "you and i". You can read the review here on "you and i". I thought it was a nice idea and a great way to promote his album. The acoustic guitars are a great touch and Eli Lishinksy really did a bang up job jazzing up this tune. Mike Boxer did a great job on the background vocals. Click here to view the song credits.

BLOG FIGHTS! Areyh Extends the Olive Branch but it Falls
On the floor... The Jewish Music Blog has been smacked hard by the introduction of MeanJBlogs. In this latest part of the saga Aryeh attempts to hand out an olive branch but it's thrown out by his nemeses. Do you think he should shut down his blog or just apologize or something else perhaps (7 days of community service?). I found it a bit comical that Aryeh tried to review 2 albums at once namely Yitzy Spinner and Pruz. The idea that Pruz sounds more genuine in his singing of the songs is a ridiculous statement: If for no other reason than simple logic. Who would sound more genuine to you? Someone who actually wrote his OWN song and sang it or someone singing something that a songwriter wrote for him? Enough said. Hey that's just my opinion....

Jewish Music Review: Yitzy Spinner: you and i
I finally went out and picked up a copy of Yitzy Spinner's debut album entitled "you and i" produced by Avi Newmark. I had heard some tracks via Sameach Music and decided to give it a whirl. You can tell that although Yitzy wants his album to be attractive to the mainstream market he doesn't want it to be boring as many tend to be. You can tell he put a lot of effort in bringing some new ideas to the table and he certainly doesn't disappoint. The album starts with a punch from the opening song "Tzur" which is nice attention grabber. Yitzy then transitions into a nice ballad "Acheniu": I was especially impressed with the backup vocals from Mike Boxer and Yitzy on this tune. The next song is a funky disco/hora:Mi Sheshikein with Danny Flam arranging the brass which really makes this song stand out. The next tune is the title song "you and i". I'm usually not a big fan of English songs since the lyrics tend to be childish and the song is usually dull. I thought Yitzy does a decent job of writing a song where the melody and words match well. In this song Yitzy shows the more emotional side of his voice . You and i is probably best described as a contemporary /quasi- R & B tune which certainly is quite different from what you will hear say on a Shwekey album. Yitzy then goes to rock it up with L'maan Achai which can be kind of catchy. If you are looking for something very different the next song will have your ears perking up: Lefonai. Yaron Gershovsky does what he does best backing up this rock n' roll shuffle .This tune is sure to get you up and dancing. Other songs include Peha another ballad, Modeh Ani with it's calypso/ carribean feel (where is my pina colada?) to a spanish hora-Sholom Aleichem and then moves to "neshomah" another contemporary ballad that really shows the depth of Yitzy's voice. The album does not stop at just 10 songs: Oseh Shalom an Arabic Hora would not be complete without the great guitar work of Avi Singolda and last but not least Avraham Yagel a moderate rock tune gives this album a real strong finish. Bottom line: you and i is a real nice album that will certainly make a nice chanukah present and is certainly enjoyable to listen to and can be purchased here. Thursday, November 29, 2007

Jewish Music: Battle of the Blogs
Well this is certainly an interesting development. Jewish Music Blog has found himself a new critic: Another blog. Mean Jblogs Suck is taking Aryeh to task for recent comments he's made about the latest release by Yitzy Spinner (whose album was released today) as well as his overall attitude in reviewing albums. I must say that at the very least I find this new blog somewhat entertaining as a good come back to unfair criticisms. While I understand the intent of this new Jblogger, it may just give more attention to his nemesis. The blog is very harsh with it's introduction:I've got some news for those losers, I'm here to put an end to your party. The author was referring to Jbloggers that knock albums with their critique and hide behind the anonymity of blogs. Although I truly can appreciate his ideas the overall tone is so angry in my mind one loses credibility when you over do it.Although I'm certainly not JMB's biggest fan I ask of this paragaraph: Jewish Music Blog has no credibility and if he knew the financial loss he is causing Yidden who are trying very hard to create Kosher, fun Jewish entertainment I hope he would stop his Loshan Hora filled blog. How much loss do you think a blog that is critical of so many albums and has how many visitors a day? Do you really think a) anyone takes it serious enough not to buy? b) does his traffic amount to all that much? c) Is it really loshon horah to give your opinion on something? I'm not a rabbi so perhaps to give an opinion that in theory may cause someone to think about not purchasing is loshon horah?

Upcoming Jewish Music Releases...
Here are a few new Jewish Music releases expected this Lag B'omer:
Shabbos Get Ready is an album that was actually expected to come out a while ago. The album features Miami Alumni: Ari Goldwag, Nochum Stark, Yitzy Spinner, Oded Kariti, Nachman Seltzer, Eric Stern and Yitzchok Rubin. I find the two tiers of names interesting. I'm wondering if it was done on purpose.
Next is a new release by guitarist extraordinare, C Lanzbom. This CD entitled Strings of the Soul features your favorite chassidic and Israeli songs. I'm really looking forward to this album since I played with C at weddings for several years.
Last but not least is a release produced by Jeff Horovitch entitled "Elyon": featuring Eliezer Kosoy and Yonason Hill. For those of you who are not familiar with Yonason Hill he is the son of Steven Hill. Which would mean that he is most likely half brother to famous drummer Matt Hill.
