Jewish Music Video: Lipa Schmeltzer Childhood Video

A great video featuring Lipa as child singing perhaps his first wedding with the Neginah orchestra. Notice Yehuda Spinner on sax fiddling with the sound system and what seems to be Ira Silber A"H on keys but I'm told it's actually Shimmy Braun of Neshoma Orchestra by Arkady.

Jewish Music Video: Lipa Discusses Ban

This video is a continuation of the last Lipa video posted. Lipa performs at a sheva brochos and start this one by discussing the ban of the big event in greater detail. Certainly entertaining.

New Lipa Schmeltzer Video! Jewish Music Videos

Here is a video of Lipa performing live at a sheva brochos with Yehoshua Solomon on the keyboard and I think he even discusses the "Big Event" toward the end. If you would like free quotes on live Jewish music entertainers like Yehoshua or a 20 piece orchestra or anything in between, you should check out simchatree.com.

Lipa Schmeltzer: A Poshiter Yid: Video Preview

Some of you have already seen the video from Lipa Schmeltzer promoting his new album :
A Poshiter Yid. If you haven't seen this presentation click here. There are already people commenting on this You Tube sneak peek and it seems it is certainly upsetting some. Many are claiming that he's back to his old tricks in trying to stir up controversy to increase his own popularity. One album that stirred up tremendous controversy and increased record sales tremendously was MBD's: Let Me People Go. Arguably one of his best arranged albums as well which was done by Daniel Freiberg. I will not be placing bets but I would not be surprised of the next ban attempt on this album or future concerts. Developing....

Rabbi Ovadi Yosef Speaks Out on Kol Koreh

Shlager speaks out about the kol koreh that banned "The Big Event". Menachum Toker writes an open letter to Lipa Schmeltzer telling him not cave into pressure from other Rabbis. "If your Rabbi said it's ok", said toker then you should perform. Caving into this idea of not performing will eventually lead children to find "other" outlets for entertainment. Another article discusses Rabbi Ovadia Yosef giving his approval to Shwekey to perform in concerts and called him Ne'em Zemirot Yisroel: a term that was used to describe the beauty of Dovid Hamelch's songs. MBD also says that if Rabbi Ovadia says he can perform, that's good enough for him: has MBD turned Sefardic?

Rabbi Yisroel Belsky: Speaking Out on Music Ban?

I'm not even sure that the yeshiva world has this information yet:It is public knowledge that the latest ban of the the "Big Event" has unfortunately given many a reason to lose faith in "daas torah". I was told by a very reliable source that Rabbi Yisroel Belsky is getting ready to publish a response to this ban in a Jewish Newspaper to be named shortly. The reason for the response: he never signed the kol koreh (shocked?!). I haven't looked that deeply into the whole episode regarding how much of a forgery it was but I always suspected as usual it was a lie to some degree. Now if Rabbi Belsky did not sign it, how much more likely that many others did not. I await to see this letter and the reaction it receives. There is no question that things of this nature should be left to one's own Rabbi to decide.

LIPA PULLS OUT! BAN EFFECTIVE?

Well there has been a lot of speculation due to the recent ban on the Big Event by Sheya Mendlowitz and if there would be any fall out would occur. Well there is some official word that Lipa, although under contract has pulled out of this concert in response to the ban. Supposedly Lipa had talks with some of the rabbonim and decided to remove himself from this event. I will attempt to investigate this matter a bit more closely as there are many things that just don't seem to add up here. I don't even want to think about how much money is being lost because of it. As with the latest ban fiasco: the wig ban, I think a lot of people are walking away with a very bad taste in their mouth about were this is all headed. There is a lot of talk but very little in the way of explanation. I think someone has to step up to the plate to straighten this out before it begins to spiral out of control.

Sameach Music: Releasing Star Studded Album

As Chaim points out Sameach Music is getting ready to release an All-Star Album entitled "The 8th Note":

"Coming soon from Yossi Green and Yossi Tyberg. A brand new CD featuring all new songs composed by Yossi Green. This CD titled "The 8th Note" will include some of the biggest names in Jewish music singing all new songs composed by one of the most successful composers in Jewish Music. Each song will feature a different singer, the line up of stars includes:

Avraham Fried, Mordechai Ben David, Cantor Yitzchok Meir Helfgot, Lipa Schmeltzer, Shloime Gertner, Ohad, Lev Tahor, Chaim Yisroel, AKA Pella (with music!) and a few more surprises. The CD will be in stores very soon. Stay tuned to Sameach Music's website for updates, the debut of the cover, and audio samples ... "

Maybe they should just call it Yossi & Yossi? The idea for this CD is fantastic but I would have preferred to see more than one composer on this album. I love Y. Green's compositions and he's truly gifted but as of late he doesn't put out as many blockbusters as he used to.
