Menucha 2- Gerstner & Sameach Music: Fight!!!!

Alright, maybe it's not a fight but I have never seen this issue become so public. My friend received the following email via facebook:

Due to the economy, our distributor, Sameach Music, wants to postpone the release of this much anticipated album until after the summer. However, we feel that, despite the economy, there has been B"H so much excitement generated about this album and everyone--especially the devoted Menucha fans--are anxious to finally see it hit the shelves NOW!

Perhaps if enough fans "complain" about this to Sameach, they will have a change of heart. (At least that's what we are hoping for!!) We need your help. PLEASE email Sameach Music at info@jewishjukebox.com and encourage them to release this amazing album as planned on Rosh Chodesh Adar IY"H!!!

Personally, I have no particular excitement toward this release and I can understand Sameach's position on this. I guess we'll see how it all turns out.

Dovid Stein: Eli Gerstner

Dovid Stein's album, Muvtach Lo was set to come out last month(and it's not in stores...surprise!). I'm not sure if this Eli Gerstner production will be out this month but his website is coming along (although the song previews aren't up as of yet). This will be Eli's first attempt at promoting a solo artist other than himself. Should Dovid's album be successful, it will add a major element into Gerstner's Jewish Music Empire ( or JME). His lineup will consist of Dovid Stein, Yeshiva Boys Choir, Tek-Noy, Menucha and the Chevra (and don't forget Eli himself).

Jewish Music Insider: Who Arranged that Album?

I was recently speaking to a musician friend of mine about Jewish Music. We were discussing different aspects of music in general, when he mentioned that the arrangements on The Yeshiva BoysChoir are some of the best he's ever heard. I'm not sure if I'd agree with his sentiment but he brought into question whether Eli Gerstner actually arranged all the music on his own. Perhaps he had a rough idea of what he wanted and he used some unknown arranger to assist with writing all the parts so that they made musical sense and all fit together. He felt that some of the ideas were too advance for someone with no major musical training. It's a good question as to how much of some of these albums are actually arranged by the people who are getting all the credit.

New Jewish Music Release: YBC #3

Due to come out this Purim, Eli Gerstner is releasing his latest Yeshiva Boys Choir album entitled "Shabchi". This will be the third release (not including their Live album) by this choir that seems to be going quite strong. Eli Gerstner is credited with producer, composer and arranger on this upcoming CD.
