Says Israel's Vice Prime Minister, Shimon Peres this week. I'm not sure what all this tough talk is actually accomplishing. I think Iran's leader is so insane that no diplomatic or UN resolution is going to result in any positive results. President Bush is trying to appease the world ( and the Democrats perhaps) and it's certainly going backfire. To my knowledge there has been not one effective war that was strictly UN in nature.There are always going to be countries such as China and Russia that will be in oppostion to us, so I'm not sure what the UN can assist with here. Iran doesn't seemed fazed by any threats or possible UN sanctions. Ultimately we will have to decide on whether we prefer a preemptive strike of sorts or a nuclear Iran. Although Iran's dictator recently sent Bush a letter over the weekend about possible "resolutions", one can't be certain that this is not just some ploy to give Iran more time to make the nukes.
