Thoughts on a new Jewish Music release: Gabbay

The long anticpation for this album (at least that's what sameach wants me to think) can finally end. Dovid Gabbay's album L'Gabbay is here! The question becomes, is it cheesy to have a song with your name in it, on a new release but that's for another time. I started listening to the various 45 sec. clips of the many songs on the sameach website and I have to conclude he sounds like something between Schweky and Mendy Wald. Speaking of Schewky he too has a song Sois Tosis, interesting. The CD has 12 songs composed and arranged by Yitzy Bald. I think some of the songs sound a bit over-arranged and very schticky. All in all it sounds pretty good album and has potential. The album is a triupmh for Yitzy Bald compared to his arrangements for Shloime Dachs' most recent flop.

Its sois Asis not tosis - different pasuk (the only other song i have ever heard wit h this pasuk is a song by Oif Simches on the blue album).
Speaking of yitzy bald, i think this is his collectively best work since the ira heller agudah album.

I thought the ira heller one had some good songs and would have been better had another vocalist sang them. Thanks for pointing out those differences on the songs. Hopefully yitzy will be able to produce the kind of exciting songs back in bald/wald days
