The Newsday does not want you to have any preconceptions: There is such thing as a Mexican Hanukkah. If one eats at Zocalo, he will find chef Julian Medina showcasing his Jewish and Mexican culinary heritage with a holiday menu that runs from Dec. 26 to Jan. 3. Included are such dishes as pescado ahumado y latkes (house-smoked tamarind swordfish salad with caramelized apples, potato latkes and chipotle vinaigrette) and tacos de brisket. Talk about being a sacrilege to Hanukkah. Although there was a fellow I heard about that tried to argue that swordfish is actually kosher, of course you would have a hard time finding an orthodox Rabbi who would agree.
