DNA to help free estranged women?

The JP has an article discussing the concept of DNA and it's usage in halacha. The focus is on Agunot, specifically women whose husbands are missing and may be dead. This problem became very prominent after 9/11. The issue at hand here is even if they found a corpse it may be unrecognizable. DNA could possibly assist in a positive identification which would thereby release this woman and allow her to remarry. The rabbinical courts have allowed dental X-rays and fingerprinting to assist with releasing agunot. DNA however, is still considered too new for some rabbinical courts(in Israel specifically) and therefore not an acceptable proof. Rabbi Moshe Tendler disagrees with those courts decision not to allow the use of DNA as evidence of a dead spouse. He says "The problem with [the edict in Israel] is that it`s not a rational decision on their part, since they accept fingerprints and dental X-rays and DNA is far more useful."
