Yesterday I had my first gig in a while. This wedding I was performing at was a bit unusual however. It took place in an art museum. I figured o.k., they probably have some kind of social hall within the museum on a separate floor. Not the case here: to get to the ballroom we were ushered through the actual museum itself while all kinds of strange art surrounded us. The main ballroom actually had paintings (which were roped off) and perhaps they moved the art off the floor to use it as a social hall. I realized I was getting kind of hot as time progressed. I said to one of the band members "they paid who knows how much to have this wedding...Can't they get some good air conditioning?" His response was that they actually paid $50,000 to have the air conditioning. I didn't really understand what he was talking about until I saw these Con Edison like tubes that were putting the cold air in the room. Evidently the room is very old and had no air conditioning and these vans outside were producing it through these vents they had brought into the building. The fun part was being pulled over by a cop on the way to the wedding for an illegal turn on my way there. The area I was in was not exactly the best of neighborhoods. The guy in front of me had made the same turn and was also pulled over. As I scrambled frantically for my registration some other car pulled over. She started screaming how she needed a cop to help her because her boyfriend was beating or something to that effect. The cop proceeded to come back to me with my license and said "have a nice day, be careful next time." I guess he had bigger fish to fry ( and my license was clean).
