A reader writes regarding my Blog on French happenings:
It means that Jews in French public school can't wear their yarmulkes to school. All two of them, if that many. I agree that this is still a violation of religious freedom, but interms of its application to Jews it is purely theoretical. Head-scarve wearing Muslims send their kids to public schools. Yarmulke wearing Jews send their kids to yeshiva.
Good point! Although I don't live in France so I have no way of knowing for certain that there are no religious Jewish students in the public school system. Can someone please find out?
Thanks
