Meet Juda Kohenbash, Pittsburgh's last standing butcher at Murray Avenue Kosher market in Squirrel Hill . Juda, 52 has seven children and has a hard time making ends meet. The latest trends in kosher meat shipping have many butcher shops vanishing across the America. Although many butchers had previously passed their traditions down to their sons, Juda has no such interest. Thankfully Kohenbash’s oldest son, David Kohenbash, 23, is a research engineer who works in robotics at Carnegie Mellon University. Juda explains“This job, you can’t make a career out of it,” Juda Kohenbash said. “It is what it is. You get by.” Rabbi Daniel Wasserman of Shaare Torah would like to see someone to take over for Kohenbash but it doesn't seem likely.
