The Boston Herald has an article on Hankus Netskyand the Klezmer Conservatory Band. The author lets you in on the big secret:
A minifestival this weekend at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center in Newton will celebrate that and more. It’s both a reunion for Klezmer Conservatory alumni and a reaffirmation of the “Jewish jazz” they played a key role in reviving. “When I started doing this I had no idea whether anybody would be interested,” said Netsky...... Now klezmer is back and thriving, in such mainstream productions as Joey Grey’s Yiddish revue “Borschtcapades” and Itzhak Perlman’s contributions to the film “In the Fiddler’s House,” and in the work of such cutting-edge jazz players as John Zorn and Marty Ehrlich.
