The OU has worked closely with Senator Frist on a range of issues important to the Orthodox Jewish community. These include:
Maintaining the strong U.S. – Israel relationship;
Securing homeland security grants for non-profit institutions – including synagogues – at risk from terrorist threats;
Passage of revised federal special education funding legislation to better ensure that eligible learning disabled children in nonpublic schools receive their fair share of federally funded services; and
Supporting public funding – and stricter ethical oversight – for stem cell research.
