There is no getting around the "numbers"--probably a two-fold result of liberal immigration policies, and the "graying"--i.e., lack of reproduction--of Western Europe.
Past French colonialism--e.g., Algeria--is probably another (tertiary) factor.
This is a problem the US will have to step up and face someday--given that Islamic democracies are very rare. (In fact, Turkey is the only country that comes close.)

Yeah it is a good thing though so that now Europeans who cursed and ridicule Israel can finally see what they and the rest of the world is up against
