Should I go to the World Series or Synagogue?

Jewish Sox fans face a rare dilemma. I hope their spiritual side wins out! In this case it did for Jonathan Greenspahn. He struggled until late Tuesday to decide whether to attend tonight's American League Championship Series game, which falls on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year in the Jewish calender.
In the end, the season ticket holder, a managing partner in Le Lan restaurant, sold his tickets, opting to skip the game.

When my dad was the rabbi of the Park East Synagogue in the 50's he was asked by a congregant for an earlier honor on Yom Kippur day. It seems he could not open the ark too late in the service because he had world series tickets.
