Blue Fringe Review..

Jewsweek's review of Blue Fringe is revealing. I thought the article was strange in that group intentionally hired a producer who wasn't Jewish to ensure they wouldn't get a generic sound. I think you could easily find a Jewish producer to get a sound that's not generic. (Perhaps a non-religious one). They are not the first to try that approach. MBD hired a different arranger, Daniel Freiberg for "Let My People Go" . He never used him again and I'm not sure why. Perhaps he was very expensive but I think his arrangements were better than most of what we have today and it was recorded almost 15 years ago! Let's see some new fresh blood get on the arrangement scene.

That's a pathetic excuse for an article, it tells you barely anything about the album, and I don't know if it was the bands intention or not, but they came off sounding uninterested in being considered Jewish at all. Saying, they aren't trying to send a Jewish message etc ... but their entire audience is Jewish? I'm trying to figure out if they just chose dumb quotes, or the author just was being lazy to actually review the MUSIC on the album?

Good question! You'll have to take it up with Jewsweek.
