The Jewish Ledger reports about a Shul, namely Adath Israel of Connecticut. They have decided to use clean energy power. The article is also interesting in that the person who made the presentation, Andy Bauer, is the chairman of the Portland Clean Energy Task Force and whose wife, Joanna Schnurman is a member of Adath Israel. Notice she is and he's not ( I just thought it was interesting). The Rabbi said, "I hope we can encourage other religious institutions to put their money where their mouth is. Our religion teaches the vital link between faith and action and we need to play our principles in action."
Bauer explained,"I learned about clean energy shortly after I got involved in the campaign to clean the Sooty Six' power plants in 2000," Bauer explained. "Energy related news reports were catching my attention and not a week went by without a report on problems with nuclear power, or a study linking fossil fuel emissions to diseases or global warming. Energy costs had started to rise and terrorists' plans to attack nuclear plants were revealed Clean energy systems virtually eliminate those problems."
