JM Video: Eli Schwebel, Benny Freidman & DJ Phresh

This past Motzei Shabbos there was a Bar Mitzvah held in Long Beach, NY that featured a number of different forms of entertainment. Invited to sing earlier in the evening in a specially made Jewish Music Kareoke booth was Benny Friedman. Benny was also present later on to sing during a special Kumzits with Eli Schwebel. Eli was brought in to sing a special Kumzits session in between the dancing.
During the dancing sets DJ Phresh was brought in to play popular Jewish songs, with his own personally added remixed boost. Many classic Jewish songs were given an upbeat face lift. The Bar Mitzvah also included a special music video with the Bar Mitzvah Bachur and Eli Schwebel singing Vehi Sheamdah.

Brooklyn: How many kosher eateries can you find?

There is no question, that one thing you'll miss when you leave NY is Kosher food. It is unbelievable how many kosher restaurants exist, especially in Brooklyn. There seems to be a kosher pizza store on every other block in Brooklyn and many are excellent. Granted there are a lot of religious Jews that live there and it would seem they love to eat out more than Jews of other states. There of course can only be so many eateries that can survive, even more so in  this horrible economy. It should come as no surprise that stores like Sushi Station in Brooklyn close before their web site even gets up and running. A long standing traif diner closes (Caraville) in  the midwood section of Brooklyn and who takes it over? Essex on Coney then moves it's location there and calls it Caraville Glatt. This establishment then closes  probably due to the unimpressive reviews and what people really thought of the place. There are many lousy restaurants in NY and with the stiff competition and a lackluster economy few will stay above water long, unless they have something to offer in the way of price and/or excellent product. The rising costs of kosher meats and kosher cheese makes getting a cheap kosher meal on-the-go a very daunting task.

Supersol Changing Ownership: Name Your Supermarket?

If you haven't heard, there is a new Gourmet supermarket rolling out where the current Supersol of Flushing, Queens is located. In an effort to promote this newly named grocery store, the new management is promoting a contest to name the newly minted supermarket at NameYourSupermarket.com. My idea: Kosherific. What's yours? Remember:If your entry is chosen, you will receive $100 of free groceries every week for a full year... more than $5,000 worth!
