Why Houston is Better Than NY...
Work has been pretty busy so I haven't posted for a bit. I'd thought about sharing some of the things I enjoy about living in Houston Texas and perhaps why it's better than NY (at least for me).
1) Lower cost of living: Housing is certainly more affordable and so is gasoline
2) Community: Where everybody knows your name: People invite you for shabbos meals etc.
3) Speeding and parking ticket ratio: the chances of getting either are greatly decreased thanks to
no quotas for either in the state
4) No state income tax
5) Politeness factor: Let's face it southerners tend to be more polite
6) No honking: few if anyone will honk at you if you don't speed away as soon as the light turns green.
These are just a few but there will be more to come...

Shlock Rock: Pay What You Want for the Album?
This is certainly a bit of a different approach to selling music. Lenny Solomon of Shlock Rock fame, is releasing his 31st album entitled Shlock Rock "No Limits". He's offering a download of the entire CD and you can pay any dollar amount you decide. As his website describes:We love these songs so much we are offering you an amazing opportunity. YOU GET TO DECIDE HOW MUCH TO PAY! We call this "PAY WHAT YOU WANT!!!" I don't know of any other Jewish Music genre that has ever offered this but it is interesting and I wonder if it will catch on....Thursday, October 08, 2009
Legalities of Succahs in Public Parks
The NYT Times blog has an interesting article concerning the legal issues of having a Succah in Bryant Park that was built by Chabad of Midtown Manhattan. It seems to violate separation of church and state but does it really? Find out...

Israeli Company: Convert Roadways into Energy
An Israeli Based Company, Innowatttech has developed what it calls "energy harvesting systems". This allows it after installation, to use the energy of movement and convert into renewable energy. It can harvest energy from many sources including: pedestrian traffic, railroads, highways and airports. Very Cool!
