Leaving NY: Thinking about it....

Before we bought our first home, my wife and I looked at different options. We discussed the idea of living out of NY but since both are families live here we nixed that thought. As the cost of living is spiraling out of control we thought to take a second look at other possibilities. The OU has an event for emerging Jewish Communities in NY. I suggest if you live in NY and are considering moving elsewhere it's a great opportunity to meet with representatives of other Jewish communities. Some of the communities attending are:Columbus, Ohio, Houston, Texas, Seattle, Washington and many others.

Pittsburgh, Chicago, Baltimore, L.A., Miami ... all growing!

Those are the more obvious ones. I think he was trying to bring up more obscure Jewish Communities.

How about Shiloh, Shvut Rachel, Rachelim...?

I live in Baltimore, and it is really a great place to live. It has just about all the conveniences for a frum person as NY, but is a much cheaper and more laid back type of place. Plus it's really not that far from NY, so visiting family is no big deal. I highly reccommend it.

Batya,

Thanks but I'd have a hard time making ends meet in those areas.

Anon,

Thanks but as you can imagine living in NY I'm quite familiar with Baltimore and it's not really my speed.

I think its a great idea to have that conference! I am looking for places to live other than NY, housing prices are so inflated! Houston sounds great!
