Solving the Problem of Late Marriages...

Rabbi Yehoshua Shapira, head of the Ramat Gan hesder yeshiva would like to offer a solution to the plagued shidduch problem: Pay the shadchan more money. If people (parents) would pay the proper amount of money to the match makers, perhaps they would invest more time in it.

And if they don't have "more money" to pay?

Spend less on the wedding and more on the shadchan would seem to be the idea.

I say, if it does not go past 2 dates, let the shadchan pay for the date.

Rescue, interesting idea...I take it you don't (or were not) set up too often?

I was set up a bunch. A bunch of them ended up being your single she's single what do you have to loose. If the shadchan will have to pay for dates that are total flops, maybe they will start putting more thought into them. I would say over 90% of the shadchonim are not doing it for money, if you want to change it so the shadchan should get paid more, they should have a vested interest in it.
