5 Towns Restaurant Update: Goodbye Dougies?

There is a rumor floating around that Dougies of the 5 Towns will be shutting down. The first Dougies originated in Manhattan and it is closed, will this be the second? There certainly is enough new competition to give Dougies a problem. 2 new restaurants are opening up nearby. I'm referring to the recently opened Burger's Bar and the soon to be opened Subway. Speaking of Subway there is one currently opened in Brooklyn and I've heard nothing but terrible reviews and it's expensive to boot. With restaurants in Brooklyn like Subsational offering 50 sandwiches at reasonable prices and quality, I'm not sure that the Subway in Brooklyn will be open much longer. All this talk is making me hungry so I'll go grab a bite and talk to you later....

Subway is great. It's cheap and very very healthy. I wouldn't slam it so fast just because they don't drown their food in oil. Do you know how bad the food that Subsational prepares is for you? It's like instant heart attacks.

Anon, Are you the owner? lol
I have on good authority from a close friend of mine that they are NOT cheap at all. They are more expensive than similar establishments in the area. Subsational makes the food in front of you, so yes I see them prepare it. You can order things that are light as well as heavy. How healthy it is, is up to you. The other day I ordered a turkey wrap. It was simply a wrap with 3 different kinds of turkey and light mayo. It was great and low calorie.

I agree with The Blogmeister.

Subway is a total ripoff and doomed to fail.

Dougie's food is only worthy of being dog food.

BTW, I met Eitan Katz and you got honorable mention.. on my blog.

Is Subway kosher? ..lol

I've eaten at Dougies twice in my life, and I can honestly say, both times, I left unsatisfied. BP has the best sandwich place, but then everything in bp is over priced so it probably doesn't even pay to mention it.

Sarah, yes they have a kosher one in Brooklyn on Ave J. Sorry but I've to BP countless times they do not have the best sandwich places to my knowledge.
