Jewish Music: Religious Women Rock the Stage..

The JP has an interesting article on frum women vocalists on the Jewish Music scene. I personally don't listen to any of it so I'm quite oblivious unless I see an advertisement of some sort. Some of the more popular religious Jewish Female vocalists are Kineret and Julia Blum and Malky Giniger. There is Suffy, a Riverdale mom released her own CD to support breast cancer research. But two groups that have appeared on the New York scene quite recently are unique not only because they’re directed and performed exclusively by Orthodox young women, but because the very bones of the group creak with originality and talent:Nishmat Hatzafon, a music and dance group that blends Torah themes with secular-like talent, and Girl’s Night On, an organization that’s taken the open mike night to the intriguing realm of frum, female-hood.
