I'm staying by my in-laws for first and second days of succos. These first two were quite enjoyable as luckily it did not rain and we were able to enjoy the meals ( although it was a bit windy the first night) without having to dashing in and out. the first day I davened by a shteeble near their house and was held captive to some really lousy balei Tefilah and a real shleped out davening. The next day I made sure to get up a bit earlier and went to a no-frills minyan that had a much nicer davening and took about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. Some of the people were unaware that I was in avilus so I had to turn them down for davening. I was told some people don't even walk around walk around during hoshanos.
