This has yet to make the news but a friend of mine has reported this information to me: A man blew up his house in West Hempstead, Long Island this afternoon. The house exploded and smoke could be seen from as far as a mile away. The explosion is being explained as a suicide attempt and the residents were not Jewish. West Hempstead is home to about 900 Jewish Orthodox families and one Jewish neighbor was home during the explosion with their baby but no one was hurt.
