Rosh Hashana Services VS Football

Michael Schwarts has an article regarding Rosh Hashonah and it's conflict with a University football game. He points out the conlict:

For some, the choice is easy - this is the High Holidays and nothing else should matter besides prayer and reflection.

For others, football is also their religion, and there's nothing so wrong about doing both: Rosh Hashana services Friday night and Saturday morning, and football in the evening.

It's certainly unfortunate that some would prefer playing over praying. If they would truly understand that on this day we are being judged as to whether we live or die who has time for game?
