Matisyahu: No longer a novelty?

For the longest time some people have been writing off Matisyahu success saying his act was strictly novel. Reuters columnist Craig Rosen believes that Matisyahu will maintain a healthy cult following long after the novelty has worn off. He's certainly the highest grossing Jewish orthodox vocalist of all time. Unlike Carlebach who hardly made a penny in his lifetime, Matisyahu is like Trump by comparison. I may not be his biggest fan but it seems his message is reaching far and wide. He can connect to a group of Jews who perhaps would never have any spiritual connection to Judaism. The fame that he's gotten is unprecedented in Jewish orthodox circles and hopefully it won't get to his head. Fame is a dangerous drug.....
