The phenomenon of the Self-Hating Jew

Warren Kozak at the NY Sun has a great article about anti-semitic anti-Israeli Jews.

Over the past several years, I've even begun to witness an odd phenomenon where many of my Christian friends have no problem with their vocal support of Israel as opposed to many of my Jewish friends who seem more fearful to be openly supportive. By now this penchant for self-denigration among Jewish people should not surprise me, but it still does. A psychiatrist up at Harvard, Kenneth Levin, has looked into this and written a very good book entitled, "The Oslo Syndrome, Delusions of a People Under Siege." Dr. Levin, no sixth grade thinker, tells us that after centuries of hearing grotesque lies about Jewish people, that narrative hasn't just rubbed off on anti-Semites, but on some Jews as well. The gold standard for this would be Noam Chomsky. But there are, sadly, many others who inexplicably have access to microphones and major publications.

No you are wrong there are different levels. I am a firm and open supporter of Israel - even fought the London major openly. But there is no such thing as unquestioned following of the leader. Such act would be alike of quote another stream of movement. Don't deny the diversity of the Jewish people.

Once upon a time Begin was a terrorist.
once upon a time Arafat was a terrorist,
once upn a time Nelson Mandela was a terrorist. Who is a terrorist whos is a freedom, fighter who is desperate who is a martyr? What is a just cause?

I read your blog and I vehmently disagree with what you say and stand for. A just cause is eradciating a people who want nothing but to eliminiate us and everyone else who does not agree with them.

Thank goodness you just make music!
You obviously have little contact to many Muslims, Lebanese or the diversity of Israelis. A whole people? where did I hear that before? You not honestly suggesting Ahmadinejad stands for all Iranians or Nasrallah for all Lebanese or even for all Shia Lebanese? It takes few to cause violence and mute the fearful majority.

And what about music that can cross bridges? Would you stand up for a joint Arab Jewish music initiative?
You might not have a gun, but you have an instrument. Should you not use it to make peace? Have you ever heard of the Ron Yuval Essemble or Mendy Cahan and Der Yiddish Express and the annual joint Israeli Arab music festivals in Jerusalem?

Get ready to the love hate relationship of Jewish diversity. Now who hates the Jewish words of the other? Are we self hating Jews! Keep up the spirit inspite of dislike!
