How techno can you go: A Jewish Music perspective....

Well it seems that techno music is all the rave now, even in Jewish music. I believe the beginning of this phase all started with the creation of the singing group "Oif Simchas". You then had creation of other groups such as the "Chevra" which mixed up a lot of the hip-hop and techno sound, which in turn created quite a buzz on the JM scene. Now Eli Gerstner has unleashed his latest group album ( what number is he up too?) Tek Noy! You can read what some bloggers like Chaim think about this new Jewish music release. I understand how some people are peeved at the way this album was marketed, not that I'm surprised. However I must point out what Eli was trying to (at least in my opinion ) achieve. Eli has not released a solo album in almost 5 years and for good reason: They don't sell nearly as well as his group albums like the "Chevra" did. Why put out a solo album if you can produce group albums (even if there isn't much of a group) instead and sell a lot more copies? At least the "Chevra" had some vocal talent. David Pearlman is a solid vocalist and a great backup singer. What you have with Tek-Noy (from what I have gathered by reading posts) is vocals that are mostly Eli Gerstner with a little help from his two buddies: Yossi Newman & Yossi Scharf. Yossi Scharf is a great guy with some solid dancing skills. It's my understanding he was actually supposed to be part of the original Chevrac group but lacked a bit vocally and stuck it out as the "choreographer". Perhaps this is why he's not singing up front and center with Eli. The question of course is why do you make it appear that this is the case on the cover...well I explained that part already.
