The Vatican has spoken! Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger has become the
next pope. I wonder if we should care that he's from
Germany. The new Pope took the name Benedict XVI, if you really care.The AP writes that his views are very conservative and that he's alienated(not suprisingly) some Roman Catholics in Germany with his zeal enforcing church orthodoxy." It should be interesting to see how this all pans out.
